about

The indie musical group MEDUSAS hail from the town of Modesto, a dark and brooding, mysterious town full of thick fog and surreal skies. It is a haven for crows and vultures, and the dark rituals of the night. The music of the Medusas reflects this through the chiming, heavily reverbed guitars of Jesse Alvarez, the pinpoint bass work of Sergio Macias, the dramatic drumming of Eddie Ortiz, and the quiet strums of singer Simon Castro.

Track Name: Vulture In the Sky
We’ve been through the desert rain, and now we’re alone.
We held up the iron cross, but we have no home.
All we wanted was a piece of sanity,
Now we stare at one another’s frailty.
I’d be high if I could, oh yeah,
Like the vulture in the sky, oh yeah.

We hear now the desert’s song, in motionless light.
The simplest, the purest tone, our mouth’s going dry.
Don’t let me fall while the vulture flies,
Don’t let me fall ‘cause the vulture flies.
I’d be high if I could, oh yeah,
Like the vulture in the sky, oh yeah.
Why do we live when we can’t do anything,
If there is water in this hill, then tell me.

I’d be high if I could, oh yeah,
Like the vulture in the sky, oh yeah.
Why do we live when we can’t do anything,
If there is water in this hill, then tell me.
Track Name: A Leaf From a Scattered Tree
The sun is alive,
We cry in the shade,
Our songs of disdain,
Again, again, again.

These leaves once of green,
Would dance in the rain,
But now they are slain,
Today.

A leaf from a scattered tree,
You make it hard to be.
The willow weeps,
For the leaf from a scattered tree is me.

I’ve seen you in Spain,
With eyes dressed in gray,
And that look on your face,
Of disgrace, disgrace, disgrace.

A leaf from a scattered tree,
You make it hard to be.
The willow weeps,
For the leaf from a scattered tree is me.
Track Name: We Don't Belong
If there’s a sign we can show you,
If there’s a word we could say,
If there was something that we could give,
We couldn’t give to you anyway.

All we know is one thing for certain.
We don’t belong,
We don’t belong,
To anything.

All we have is the past now,
And the future never ends,
But even while the clock keeps turning,
The day never seems to begin,
All we know is one thing for certain,
We don’t belong,
We don’t belong,
To anything.

If we had one word to tell you,
Just one word to say,
It wouldn’t matter much to us,
We couldn’t tell it to you anyway.
All we know is one thing for certain.
We don’t belong,
We don’t belong,
To anything.
Track Name: Sweet Misty River
Sweet misty river,
Sweet misty river,
You loved a girl in another world.
You loved her madly,
You loved her sadly in another world.

She appeared in your stream,
Cold like fire around her knees,
And she floated on her red canoe,
Atop your shadowed water blue.

When she awoke from her dream,
She wasn’t there, though you lingered still,
And if only it could all be true.
And if only it could all be true.

Sweet misty river,
Sweet misty river,
You loved a girl in your midnight swirl.
You loved her madly,
You loved her sadly in another world.

She talks in her sleep,
Though she can’t find what she longs to hear,
The sound of water sifting through
As she floats upon her red canoe.

She’ll come back to this place,
She won’t leave till she finds a clue,
Of when she floated on her red canoe,
Atop your shadowed water blue.

Just ask of her, dear river bed, and she’ll ask of you.
To bring the love you’ve shown her to, You’ve shown her to.
‘Cause she only wants to be with you, be with you,
Be with you, Be with you all day.
